Activist lawyer Fadiah Nadwa Fikri is under investigation over an article deemed seditious for questioning the royal institution.

The Centre to Combat Corruption and Cronyism (C4) legal research officer said that she has been summoned to appear at the Brickfields police station tomorrow after a report was lodged over her article.

"I've been called in by the police for investigation under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948 and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

"The questioning will be held at IPD Brickfields tomorrow at 4pm," she tweeted today.

In an earlier Facebook post, Fadiah revealed that she woke up this morning to vile comments over the article, which was published yesterday.

"Wrote an article on the monarchy yesterday and woke up to these accusations: 1) A Pakatan Harapan activist (?!) 2) Calling for bloodshed. And a police report has been lodged against me.

“This nation has a lot to learn about dealing with cognitive dissonance," she said in the post.

In a separate Facebook post, Fadiah explained that the article "Don't kiss the hands that beat you," which first appeared on youth group Malaysia Muda's website, pertained to an image of de factor PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim kissing the hand of Johor ruler Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar.

"Wrote my thoughts on the disturbing picture of Anwar bending down, kissing the hand of the Johor sultan which emerged on the internet post-GE14," she said.

Fadiah’s article questioned Anwar's move to perpetuate a "feudal culture" at a time when monarchies in many other parts of the world had been rendered supposedly obsolete.

The image of Anwar and the Johor sultan was first shared by the Johor Royal Press Office on Facebook.

Shortly after his release from prison, Anwar had scheduled audiences with several rulers. His meeting with Sultan Ibrahim was reported to have taken place at Istana Pelangi, Johor Bahru on May 22.
