Najib insists Zeti knew of RM2.6b

Former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak maintains that former Bank Negara governor Zeti Akthar Aziz knew about the RM2.6 billion transferred into his personal account, disputing her denial on the matter.

His daughter, Nooryana Najwa, also took to Facebook to complain that investigators had frozen her personal bank account as well as her 10-month-old son's after she posted bail for Najib yesterday.

Meanwhile, Najib's stepson Riza Aziz endured his third day of grilling at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya and is needed to return for a fourth round of questioning today over allegations that 1MDB funds were used to finance his film producing ventures.

The Malaysian Bar urged the High Court judge in Najib's criminal breach of trust and abuse of power trial to recuse himself following reports that he is the sibling of a senior Umno politician in Pahang.

A group of Najib supporters have started a donation drive to collect enough money for Najib to pay for the remaining RM500,000 of his RM1 million bail.

Jamal finally lands in prison

Sungai Besar Umno division chief Jamal Md Yunos was charged with resisting lawful arrest and sent to prison after being denied bail. He was arrested in Jakarta yesterday after being on the run for more than a month.

The police, however, were not in luck in the case of Low Taek Jho (Jho Low), the key figure in the 1MDB scandal, who fled to Macau as soon as the Malaysian cops arrived in Hong Kong.

Citing the temporary gag order following Najib's charging yesterday, Umno leader Razlan Rafii " warned" Commercial Crime Investigation Department director Amar Singh and the MACC to stop talking about 1MDB as it could create a negative perception of the former premier.

Lawyer N Surendran said the judge in Najib's case has no jurisdiction to issue a gag order on "the world at large" on the matter.

The Attorney-General's Chambers, meanwhile, clarified that Najib's trial dates have yet to be fixed, contrary to several news reports saying so.
