DAP Youth chief Wong Kah Woh has been urged to apologise to the Yang diPertuan Agong, Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, the cabinet as well as all Pakatan Harapan component parties.

This apparently over Wong's claims that Mahathir had sidelined DAP's choices of ministers as well as under-representing the party in the cabinet.

The demand for an apology was made by Selangor Bersatu Youth chief Adhif Syan Abdullah.

Adhif said it was the prime minister's prerogative to appoint cabinet ministers with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's consent.

As such, he said Wong should be wiser in making statements and learn to voice his frustrations through internal channels.

"As such Selangor Bersatu Youth urges Wong to apologise to the Agong, Mahathir, the cabinet and all other component parties for this immature behaviour shown even before Harapan has ruled for 100 days," Adhif said in a statement today.

Wong had vented over Mahathir's move to exclude Perak DAP chief Nga Kor Ming from the cabinet and the appointment of Sarawak DAP chief Chong Chien Jen as just a deputy minister.

He also complained that the cabinet line-up did not reflect the seats won by the DAP which has the second-highest number of MPs after PKR.

Adhif said Wong was misleading the public on the matter.

"It is clear that the cabinet appointments were fair and made based on the results of the general election with DAP receiving the second highest number of seats after PKR.

"Wong knew this fact but still tried to confuse the public, why? Is Wong purposely trying to anger the people, especially Bersatu members?" Adhif asked.

He added that pitting two parties and their supporters against each other was something that should be avoided and that efforts should be made on cooperation beyond party lines for the sake of the people.

Not counting the post of prime minister and deputy prime minister, DAP has six cabinet posts while Bersatu has five. PKR has seven.

An analysis by Malaysiakini has shown that PKR and DAP are both under-represented in the cabinet as while they control 73.6 percent of the seats on the government bench they were both allocated only 50 percent of cabinet positions.
