KINI ROUNDUP | Here are the key headlines you may have missed yesterday, in brief.

Tengku Razaleigh joins Umno race

Umno veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah confirmed that he will be challenging Ahmad Zahid Hamidi for the Umno presidency.

Ahmad Zahid stressed that Umno cannot see another split like in 1987 when Tengku Razaleigh formed a splinter party Semangat 46 after losing in the Umno election.

Former Finance Minister Johari Abdul Ghani, who is vying for an Umno vice president position, said the party must close ranks after the general election and cannot afford factionalism.

The Umno veterans club proposed that Zahid make way for Tengku Razaleigh and instead contest the deputy president position.

Kit Siang suggests Umno sack Najib

DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang suggested that Umno sack its former president Najib Abdul Razak to "exorcise" his "toxic legacies".

However, Tengku Razaleigh disagreed, saying that there was no need unless Najib had committed a gross wrong.

Najib lamented that having fallen out of power, he could only reach the people through social media.

Malaysian domain outage

Websites in the country bearing the .my domain were hit by an outage.

MYNIC Bhd, an agency under the Communications and Multimedia Ministry (KKMM), confirmed a 'broken chain of trust' between the servers in MYNIC and Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) caused the outage.

Other Kinibites

Persatuan Patriot Kebangsaan (Patriot) said the alleged profiteering from DBKL allocated Ramadan bazaar lots by a Pakatan Harapan component party was a " red mark" that had to be urgently addressed.

Former Malacca chief minister Idris Haron distanced himself from the chief minister's residence, which the new Pakatan Harapan government had described as an example of the previous government's excesses, stating that it was built before his time.

MCA's Ayer Hitam MP Wee Ka Siong claimed there was a plot to unseat him as the sole Chinese opposition MP.

DAP's Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng claimed the previous government sold a flood mitigation pond for a luxury condominium project.

Looking ahead

Umno will announce the candidates for its party supreme council election as nomination ends.
