Former premier Najib Abdul Razak visited the grave of his father, second prime minister Abdul Razak Hussein, this morning.

Razak's remains are buried at the Makam Pahlawan (warriors' tombs), which is located at the national mosque in Kuala Lumpur.

“For those who have lost their loved ones, the loss would be felt even more when Aidilfitri is around the corner.

“Let us pray that Allah SWT continues to shower their souls with blessings,” said Najib in a Twitter posting.

The posting also featured a photograph of Najib reciting prayers next to the grave.

Razak, who died on Jan 14, 1976 due to leukemia, served as prime minister from 1970 until his death.

In 1973, Razak formed BN to replace the Alliance. He is also renowned for launching the New Economic Policy (NEP).

Ironically, 45 years later, BN suffered its first electoral defeat in the May 9, 2018 national polls under the stewardship of his son, who was the sixth prime minister.
