Perlis crisis continues

DAP lawmaker Ngeh Koo Ham said the Raja of Perlis should have followed the precedent set by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong in appointing the state's menteri besar.

Tambun Tulang state assemblyperson Ismail Kassim blamed weak leadership by Umno's de facto president and deputy president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Hishammuddin Hussein for the continued menteri besar crisis in Perlis.

Perlis Umno Youth claimed state party chief Shahidan Kassim was unaware that the central leadership had backed Azlan Man as menteri besar.

Local council elections in 3 years

Malaysia will have local council and mayoral elections within three years, said Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin.

Zuraida also said Putrajaya is working on easing difficulties to obtain housing loans.

Perak Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu warned NGOs against vigilantism in protesting alcohol sales.
