Following a police report lodged against Pakatan Harapan-linked lawyer Mohd Haniff Khatri Abdulla for his speech at a ceramah in Kluang, Johor, during the weekend, Haniff said the authorities could come to see him on Thursday.

Utusan Malaysia reported today that Jaringan Melayu Malaysia (JMM) lodged a police report in Ampang against Haniff for falsely presenting the notion that caretaker prime minister Najib Abdul Razak may run away from the country or impose the National Security Council Act.

JMM president Azwanddin Hamzah said such a notion has created unrest among the people following the talk Haniff made in Kluang.

Azwanddin further said such notion was meant to create hatred against the government.

Haniff at the ceramah in Kluang painted four scenarios over what might happen before or after polling day tomorrow.

The lawyer in a blog posting said he respects JMM’s right to lodge the police report and added that it was also his right to give his opinion to the people on the political-legal implications based on his honest analysis.

Haniff reminded Azwanddin that Najib is just a caretaker prime minister and not the government, as there is no government in existence now, with Parliament dissolved and the general election called.

He said he was in Langkawi yesterday, would be in Penang today and return to Rawang tomorrow to cast his vote.

"Hence, if the authorities want to see me, they can do so after Thursday," Haniff said.
