GE14 | An MCA member has lodged a police report over a video in Chinese that features “religious elements” involving the cursing of six top non-Muslim BN leaders, reported The Star.

Several branch chiefs from the Kuantan MCA lodged a joint police report over the video yesterday.

In the police report, they called on the police to investigate the video under the Anti-Fake News Act and other relevant laws.

“We are also worried about the safety of the leaders mentioned in the video, as they have been threatened,” claimed MCA representative Foo Kok How according to the daily.

The six leaders purportedly named in the video were MCA president Liow Tiong Lai, deputy president Wee Ka Siong, Youth chief Chong Sin Woon, Gerakan president Mah Siew Keong, vice-president Dominic Lau and MIC president S Subramaniam.

The six are BN’s candidates in the May 9 general election.

In the video clip dubbed “Rakyat Mengadu”, derogatory words and curses were apparently used during a “da xiao ren” (hit the villains) ritual, according to The Star.

The ritual involved hitting paper drawings of the figures with shoes or sandals. “Da xiao ren” is a traditional Taoist folk ritual to “chase away” bad luck and wicked people who have hindered the believers’ progress in life or work.
