BN sends GE14 candidate list for screening
ADS

GE14 | The BN has sent its list of potential candidates for every parliamentary and state seat in the coming general election for screening by the MACC, the police and the Department of Insolvency.

BN secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said the BN approach in sending the lists of three to four names of potential candidates for every seat for screening by the agencies concerned showed that the party was transparent in serving the people and the country.

"We want the best candidates to represent BN. They (the opposition) do not care. They just grab anyone to be candidates (without scrutinising them). That is their problem," he told reporters after attending an “Ikan segar
separuh harga @ Putrajaya” sale in Putrajaya today.

Tengku Adnan, who is also Umno secretary-general, said between five and seven percent of the names in the list were rejected.

MACC chief commissioner Dzulkifli Ahmad confirmed that only BN sent its list of candidate for the 14th general election for screening.

Asked when BN would announce the list of candidates who would be contesting, Tengku Adnan said the matter would be determined by the caretaker prime minister Najib Abdul Razak.

Meanwhile, on the fish sale programme, Tengku Adnan, who is also federal territories minister, said it was held every month to help the people to reduce the cost of living.

"I also want to clarify that this sale is not just because of the general election but it is held every month," he said.
