Umno secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor has brushed off attacks against Titiwangsa MP and Second Finance Minister Johari Abdul Ghani as the work of the opposition.

"There is no internal problems in BN. Any sabotage or slander is the work of the opposition, and surely they will accuse us (BN) of having internal problems," Tengku Adnan was quoted as saying by Bernama.

Banners asking Umno to field someone other than Johari in Titiwangsa have been put up across the constituency.

Johari had decried the banners as "character assassination," and blamed a certain individual within the local Umno division, whom he said had aspirations to usurp him as the Titiwangsa MP.

The offending banners read: "We the Umno grassroots request that the prime minister chooses a candidate other than Johari" and "Say No to DJ (Datuk Johari)", "RejectJohari" and "ArrogantJoe".

The banners were linked to Kelab Aku Budak Chow Kit (KABCK) after photographs of a group of youth donning T-shirts with the words "Asal Bukan Joe Ghani #ABJ" were circulated on social media.

The club has neither denied nor confirmed that it was behind the banners, but its chairperson Ahmad Ayob Ramli admitted that he had no love for Johari.
