The Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) and its breakaway faction United People’s Party (UPP) today signed a long-awaited MoU for a proposed merger to better unity among the Chinese community in the state.

The MOU was signed at the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) headquarters in Kuching this afternoon witnessed by Sarawak Chief Minister Abang Johari Abang Openg.

The chief minister told reporters that the MoU would be the “motivating force” to bring both parties together to help congeal the Sarawak Chinese community and other ethnic groups within the bigger BN family.
