No more intrusion in Sabah, says Hisham

The BN government will not allow Sabah to be intruded or threatened by any parties, says Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein.

He said the government gave its full assurance to continue defending Sabah as it is a fundamental commitment of the federal government to the state government.

“The government will not allow, not even an inch of Sabah to be intruded... so long as I am entrusted as the defence minister, the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) and I will ensure the security and peace of Sabah will continue to be preserved.

“As such from the experience we went through during the intrusion incident in Lahad Datu, is a pledge to continue improving the level of security in Sabah,” he said.

He was speaking at media conference after witnessing an ATM Capability Demonstration at the airport in Kota Belud today.

Also present were Communications and Multimedia Minister Salleh Said Keruak and Armed Forces chief general Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohammed Noor.

Hishammuddin said the federal government had specific plans to further tighten the level of security in Sabah.

“The Defence Ministry as promised in the BN Manifesto in the 13th general election has cooperated with other agencies to strengthen security in Sabah especially in the Eastern Sabah Security Zone (Esszone) ... what is the plan pledged by the opposition? They will only come around during election time,” he said.

He said what the government had promised was realistic and not mere rhetoric.
