Terengganu Umno is on track to recapture four parliamentary seats currently held by the opposition in the 14th general election (GE14) to ensure that BN continues to be the state government.

State Umno chairperson Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman said the confidence was reflected through the strong support of voters and election machinery for Umno and BN in each division.

"The voters and party machinery must continue to maintain unity and not bank on problems besetting the opposition, to win GE14," he said in his speech at the Kuala Nerus Umno Division Building and Convention Hall ground-breaking ceremony and launch of a programme to recapture the Kuala Nerus parliamentary constituency today

Ahmad Razif, who is also menteri besar, said the keys to success in GE14 were the candidates and the party machinery.

“Candidates can win provided there is no sabotage or an enemy in our midst. It is mandatory that we support any candidate bearing the BN flag,” he said.

BN controls four of the Terengganu's eight parliament seats namely Besut, Setiu, Kemaman and Hulu Terengganu while the remaining four seats, Kuala Nerus, Marang, Kuala Terengganu, and Dungun, are held by the opposition.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Razif told a media conference that the new building would symbolise the strength and pride of the division and create history in the continuation of the efforts of past and current leaders.

The five-storey building, costing RM12 million and on a 0.4 ha site, was expected to be completed next year and would be equipped with a 2,500-people capacity convention hall, meeting rooms and several other facilities such as hotel and retail outlets to generate income for the division, he said.
