Seven remanded in RM44m real estate corruption probe

Seven individuals, including two senior officials of a real estate company, were remanded for five days to facilitate investigation into a RM44 million corruption case.

Magistrate Siti Nabilah Abdul Rashid issued a remand order against them from today until Feb 10, after the MACC made the application, at the Magistrate’s Court here today.

Among those arrested were the deputy general manager, aged 44, project director, 55, and a personal assistant to said deputy general manager, aged 34.

All three were arrested at the Johor MACC yesterday.

The other four remanded were understood to be contractors, believed to be assisting in the investigation of the case which took place between 2013 and 2017.

The four individuals were detained between 10am and noon yesterday at MACC Shah Alam, Klang and Malacca.

Media reports said the two senior officers were detained to assist investigations into alleged abuse of power by soliciting and accepting bribes from contractors involved with landscape maintenance work of the company.
