A Road Transport Department (RTD) officer has been remanded for five days from today to facilitate investigations into his alleged involvement in a bribery case.

He is alleged to have received bribes amounting to RM14,000 from three construction companies three years ago.

Also remanded with the 43-year-old officer for the same period and purpose were the managers of the three companies, aged 30, 41 and 45.

Magistrate Roslizi Sulaiman allowed the application of the MACC to detain the four suspects until Saturday.

The four individuals arrived at the court complex in Klang at about 10.15am, with the case being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.

The RTD officer was reported to have been detained at the Klang MACC office at 2pm yesterday, while the three others were detained at the same location between 2.30pm and 4.45pm.

The officer, who is currently serving at the Selangor RTD Driving Licence Testing Division, is alleged to have taken a monthly bribe of between RM100 and RM1,800 from the three construction companies for a year, in return for not taking legal action under the Road Transport Act 1987.
