Cops on the hunt for ex-foundation director over T'ganu umrah scam

Terengganu police are looking for former Yayasan Bakti Negara Terengganu (YBNT) director Mohd Adam Mohd Ghazali, 30, to assist investigations into an umrah scam which resulted in losses of about RM4.5 million.

Terengganu police chief Aidi Ismail told a press conference here today that Adam had been unreachable since last month.

He said Adam was last seen in Pasir Mas, Kelantan and urged those with knowledge about his whereabouts to contact the nearest police station.

Adam had been placed on remand pertaining to the case from Dec 27 to Jan 21 but was subsequently released on police bail.

It was reported that some 4,000 teachers in Terengganu were fleeced in the scam which offered “fly-by-night” umrah packages.
