Gerakan man urges Umno to tone down racial rhetoric

RKR: Is Gerakan Youth deputy chief Andy Yong that naïve, or is he trying to appear good for the benefit of his Chinese audience?

Umno has been doing this (spewing racial rhetoric) year after year, and what have you BN leaders done to stop it? Nothing.

In the end, all of you would still get together and sing 'khumbaya'.

DAP has never sidelined the Malays. They only want the cake to be divided equally among all Malaysians.

Look at Penang. The poor Malays are rendered help by the state government too, like all the rest of the poor among us.

Whenever the Umno's annual general assembly circus comes to town, it's an open season to bash the rest. It’s disgraceful, to say the least.

SusahKes: But don't you see, Yong, they need this to take the attention away from US attorney-general Jeff Sessions' latest comment with regards to 1MDB.

So off they go to create bogus enemies. And by the way, don't blame Umno; blame your own party Gerakan, and MCA too.

It is because of you allowing them to enjoy uninhibited and unbridled power, that they have become the ugly behemoth that they are today.

Hplooi: What else is new? Umno's fascists are so ingrained with racial supremacy that they cannot debate on facts.

Yong, you may not agree with DAP, but to condone Umno's fascist and vitriolic demonisation of DAP along racial lines is despicable, divisive and violates all norms of civility.

The seriousness of this matter is non-partisan, and the continued 'normalisation' of Umno's race rhetoric, politics aside, will not only affect you but your next generation as well.

He is wrong. 'Malaysia for Malaysians' would not render the royal institution obsolete, but corruption will.

Fairnsquare: The monarchy is protected by the constitution, and nobody should and can question this. It was Umno who reduced the power of the monarchy in the past.

DAP has never threatened the existence of the monarchy. Why is Umno sprouting nonsense?

Anonymous 2460391489930458: Umno can only use racial slurs to rally the Malays. They have nothing to offer the Malays because Umno people have only taken care of themselves.

So, when they have no more "modal" (capital) and nothing to show the Malays, who are still struggling to survive (many can't even afford a roof over their heads), they will try to make the Malays angry at DAP by calling the latter “DAPigs”, “Cina DAP” or “komunis DAP”.

At the end of the day, DAP (which is not even communist in ideology) doesn't do anything bad to the Malays, but the latter again vote for Umno. Instead, it is Umno itself who betray the Malays who vote for them, time and again.

Then Umno goes to meet the real Chinese communists from China and cooperates with them. How's that for irony?

They only love themselves and the party. The country only belongs to them and no one else. This is how racist and divisive it has become, and all their leaders actually condone it.

Burning effigies is now a norm for them, and they do it during their AGM (annual general meeting). They are promoting hate as well. Gone are the good old days of racial harmony... if you can actually still recall what it means.

Hopelessly: It's quite funny (and sad) some people actually think Malaysia belongs only to the Malays, while at the same time, say they are hoping to see the country get 'united'.

When racist remarks are made, not a single leader has said a word about it. I can't see how our country is going to be united moving forward with such divisive hate politics being practised.

And Pakatan Harapan is no better...

Cogito Ergo Sum: What is being discussed and debated at this AGM is not just racist, but seditious. If any of the debates were raised in any other party's events, it would have been closed down for good.

No sir, your party is the very essence of bigotry. Denying it means you are putting up a vain attempt to deflect the fact.
