A man, his two sons and daughter were found dead in a bedroom of their house in Perdana Heights here today.

The man was 48. His two sons were five and six, while his daughter was eight.

Kedah CID chief SAC Mior Farid Al-Athrash Wahid, when contacted, confirmed the discovery of the bodies at 2pm today, saying police believed that the man hanged himself after suffocating his children with a pillow.

“Based on initial investigation, police believe that before the man hanged himself, he suffocated his children, most probably using a pillow,” he said.

Mior Farid said all of them were believed to have died 12 hours ago.

He said financial problem faced by the family was believed to be the motive and that the man’s wife had also committed suicide by hanging herself on Nov 1.

For now, he said the case was classified as sudden death.

Meanwhile, the man’s 20-year-old son from a previous marriage said his father had come to see him and his 19-year-old sister two days ago.

During the meeting, he said his father told them that he was sad.

“I know that the three siblings had been absent from school for the past week. Their mother died 20 days ago,” he told reporters at the scene.

The bodies were taken to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital for post-mortem.
