Clare claims Morais a source

Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown claims that slain deputy public prosecutor Kevin Morais had sent her the alleged draft charge sheet against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

Former Bar Council president Ambiga Sreenevasan was told take responsibility for providing Rewcastle-Brown information, said Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Ambiga accused her critics of attempting to persecute her with regard to Rewcastle-Brown naming her as the source for an article in Sarawak Report which suggested PAS received some RM90 million from Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

Ambiga also said that critics should focus on the more serious allegations Rewcastle-Brown made in her defence statement.

Selangor sultan flays Dr M

Selangor's Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah wants former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad to be probed for sedition following his "Bugis pirate" remark.

Parti Pribumi Bersatu Youth chief Syed Saddiq Syed Anwar defended Mahathir, saying there was a misunderstanding as the pirate remark was only aimed at Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and not at the Bugis community.

The Finance Ministry said Treasury secretary-general Irwan Serigar Abdullah did not say that laziness caused Malaysians to end up in poverty.

MIC sex-scandal heats up

A man claimed that he possessed 60 audio recordings of a former MIC branch chairperson who is accused of offering favours in return for sex, including with teenagers.

The accused was purportedly accorded “special treatment” when he turned up at the party headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.

The alleged offender, who is also a teacher, would lose his job if he is found guilty, said Deputy Education Minister P Kamalanathan.

Penang tabled a RM1.3 billion budget for 2018.

In his budget speech, Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said that state civil servants with a good record would get a RM2,000 bonus.
