MIC leader accused of soliciting sex

An MIC branch leader, who is also a Tamil school teacher, is reported to have solicited sex from teenage girls in exchange for employment opportunities for them.

It was also revealed that the MIC branch leader sought the help of Deputy Youth and Sports Minister M Saravanan, who lashed out at him as being "sick" and told him to seek medical help.

MIC treasurer-general S Vell Paari urged MIC leaders not to meddle in the case and to leave it to the police to investigate.

Sentul police chief R Munusamy said he was alerted by Vell Paari about the case but wants a police report in order to commence investigation against the alleged sex predator.

Deputy Education Minister P Kamalanathan said the alleged sexual predator faces dismissal as a teacher.

Dr M accepts blame for Ops Lalang

Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he accepted blame for Ops Lalang in 1987 and regretted the torture that happened but stopped short of an apology.

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor denied claims in Santamil Selvi's case that her family suffered a loss of income and injury during their exile to India, which she blames the couple for.

However, carpet businessperson Deepak Jaikishian is yet to file his defence against Santamil's suit. Santamil is the wife of the late private investigator P Balasubramaniam.

Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein today directed queries of why army voters were registered at an uncompleted camp to the military.

Putrajaya refuses to reveal 1MDB fund units value

The Finance Ministry declined to reveal the exact value of "fund units" held by 1MDB subsidiary Brazen Sky.

The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) announced it will issue a permanent ban against former banker Yeo Jia Wei, who was convicted of several charges linked to the 1MDB scandal, from being involved in any financial advisory.

Former finance minister II Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah, in his speech to Parliament, said he believed Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak will leave behind a "zero corruption" legacy.

Bersatu deputy president Mukhriz Mahathir scoffed at this and claimed that Husni, who has been critical of the 1MDB scandal, has made a U-turn.

PKR leaders lodged a report with MACC, urging the commission to probe blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin's accusation of corruption against attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali. Apandi has denied the allegation and threatened to sue Raja Petra.

Dewan Rakyat speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia said the appearance of a BN logo in the Dewan Rakyat during the Budget 2018 presentation was unintentional.
