ADS

A former administrative assistant at the Office of the Selangor Menteri Besar has been remanded for three days from today over an investigation by the MACC into corruption and abuse of power in the awarding of a project for supply of souvenirs to the office in 2016.

The remand order against the 38-year-old woman was issued by magistrate Khairul Nizam Abu Bakar.

The magistrate also issued similar remand orders against the 59-year-old owner of the souvenir supplier company and his 52-year-old wife.

It was reported in the media yesterday that the former staff of the Office of the Menteri Besar was suspected to have received a bribe of RM16,566 from the owner of the company last year as an inducement to recommend the company as the supplier of the souvenirs.

The wife of the company owner was arrested for allegedly having plotted with the two suspects.

The investigation of the trio is being carried out under Section 17 (a) of the MACC Act 2009.
