Umno’s recent announcement that 16,297 units of affordable housing projects under PR1MA have been approved by Penang’s local councils is inaccurate, said state housing executive councillor Jagdeep Singh Deo.

According to records by the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) and Seberang Perai Municipal Council (MPSP), the two local authorities have approved planning permission for only 3,071 units, Jagdeep said.

At a press conference in Komtar today, Jagdeep showed a letter issued by MBPP mayor Maimunah Mohd Sharif on Sept 17, which stated that only two PR1MA projects on the island have been approved by the council.

They are 1,248 units by developer Eastscape Vista Sdn Bhd in Batu Ferringhi, 1,117 and 706 units by Ideal Capital Venture Sdn Bhd on Plot B and Plot C respectively, in Kampung Kastam...
