The MACC has secured a five-day extension for the remand of Parti Warisan Sabah leader Shafie Apdal's younger brother.

Bernama reported that the extension order was granted by magistrate Afiq Agoes today.

Hamid Apdal had been detained by the graftbusters on Oct 10.

This comes a day after the MACC arrested Hamid's son-in law.

The Star reported that the 37-year-old businessperson was arrested at 5.30pm yesterday, after presenting himself at the MACC office in Kota Kinabalu.

MACC deputy chief commissioner of operations Azam Baki confirmed the arrest.

Hamid was also arrested, last Wednesday, and had his home raided by the MACC.

Both arrests are linked to MACC's investigation into the alleged misappropriation of at least RM1.5 billion in development funds meant for Sabah.

Other arrests in relation to this case include Warisan vice-president Peter Anthony and its Youth chief Mohd Azis Hamman as well as Umno Youth information chief Jamawi Jaafar and Tawau Umno Youth chief Ariffin Kassim.
