The people of Sarawak have been urged to support the efforts of the state government to realise the dream of becoming the most developed state in Malaysia by 2030.

Sarawak Chief Minister Abang Johari Openg (photo) said Sarawak could not continue to run the economy in a conventional way, especially in today's digital era.

"Now we want to head towards an economic transformation. We cannot continue running the economy in a conventional way in this digitalisation era. We must now go for the digital economy transformation," he said when addressing some 10,000 Sarawakians at the 'Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak 2017’ dinner in Kuala Lumpur last night.

The function was officiated by the Yang Dipertua Negeri Sarawak Abdul Taib Mahmud, who was accompanied by his wife Raghad Kurdi Taib.

Also present were Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Nancy Shukri, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Joseph Entulu Belaun, Works Minister Fadillah Yusof, Women, Family and Community Development Minister Rohani Abdul Karim and Human Resources Minister Richard Riot Jaem.

The 'Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak' is an annual event, which has been held for the past 10 years to gather Sarawakians working and studying in Peninsular Malaysia.

The one-day programme, co-organised by the Kuala Lumpur Sarawakians Association and the Kuala Lumpur Sarawak Foundation, also featured a dialogue session with Abang Johari.
