Editor's Note: The Perak Menteri Besar's office has denied this Bernama report and issued a clarification.

Perak Menteri Besar Zambry Abd Kadir today slammed Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng for attempting to create conflict between religions in this country.

"He (Lim Guan Eng) loves to make provocation because he is angry with Umno. The DAP also has ties with political parties in other countries but we do not say that they are anti-religion,” he told a press conference after presenting financial aid in conjunction with Deepavali celebration at Sekolah Tamil Wawasan Pundut in Lumut.

Guan Eng claimed on Twitter today that Umno and PAS agents had slandered the DAP as communists, while it was Umno which was friendly with the Communist Party of China.

"Now, who is anti-religion?" he asked in the tweet.

Zambry, who is also Perak Umno Liaison chairperson said the people can see that Umno was never anti-religion as claimed by the DAP.

At the event, some 1,500 poor Indians in Lumut parliamentary constituency received financial aid in conjunction with Deepavali, which is to be celebrated on Oct 18.
