KINI ROUNDUP | Here are the key headlines you may have missed yesterday, in brief.

Najib meets Trump

US President Donald Trump said he was honoured to have Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak at the White House, and said the two talked about big trade deals.

In an opinion piece, Najib reaffirmed that Malaysia and the US share a common battle against religious extremists linked to terror attacks launched in the name of Islam.

Speaking to Malaysians in Washington DC, the prime minister also said that the meeting with Trump showed acknowledgement for Malaysia's status as a "rising star."

PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli claimed that Najib's visit was not an official one due to the absence of certain protocols during his arrival on Monday.

Industry sources claimed that Malaysia Airlines will announce a US$1.8 billion deal to buy eight Boeing 787 jets during Najib's US visit.

Dr M to face RCI

Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has been subpoenaed to testify, next Monday, before the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) investigating Bank Negara's foreign exchange (forex) losses.

The Special Affairs Department (Jasa) accused PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim of threatening former Bank Negara assistant governor Abdul Murad Khalid, a witness in the RCI into the forex scandal.

Anwar's lawyer, N Surendran, said the Jasa assertion was baseless and absurd, and that the jailed former opposition leader had a right to defend himself.
