Police have arrested the driver of the four-wheel drive which rammed into four Paralympian cyclists and their head coach at the Kuala Lumpur-Kuala Selangor (Latar) Highway, this morning.

According to The Star Online, the 46-year-old driver had turned himself up at the Kampung Baru Subang police station around 3pm, after which he was arrested and taken to the Kuala Selangor traffic police department for further action.

Kuala Selangor police chief Supt Ruslan Abdullah told the portal that the case was not a hit-and-run, as initially thought, due to a mix-up in the car registration number.

"We plan to charge him on Friday. The case is being investigated under Section 43 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless driving," he was quoted.

The accident occurred about 10.50am when the four Paralympians - Mohd Nor Rizuan Zainal, 31, Khairul Azwan Wahab, 25, Nur Syafiq Suhaimy, 19, and Khairul Nizam Mohd Ali, 23, were involved in training with their head coach Johari Nayan.

The victims suffered multiple injuries after the vehicle rammed into them and they were taken to Sungai Buloh Hospital for treatment.
