The Customs Department and the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) have formalised their partnership to conduct audit operations together, effective from today.

Customs director-general Subromaniam Tholasy and IRB chief executive officer Sabin Samitah signed a standard operating procedure (SOP) for their joint audit programme in the presence of Treasury secretary-general Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah today.

“This SOP lists the criteria for this partnership, like how Customs and the IRB will be able to share information, go on operations and audit (companies) together, rather than go separately,” Mohd Irwan Serigar said today...
