KINI ROUNDUP | Here are the key headlines you may have missed yesterday, in brief.

PAS talks fuel drama in PKR

Pakatan Harapan declared that it will not cooperate with PAS in the 14th general election and is bracing for multi-cornered fights.

The announcement came as a surprise as just hours before, PKR was debating on the merits of negotiating with PAS, with its grassroots calling for a special congress to decide on the matter.

PKR Youth deputy chief Dr Afif Bahardin dismissed calls for the special congress as "absurd".

At the same time, Kelantan PKR Youth chief Dr Hafidz Rizal Amran, seen to be close to PAS, was ousted after a petition was sent by grassroots leaders.

Four more states may fall with Harapan-PAS alliance

A survey by Institut Darul Ehsan (IDE) shows that the federal opposition can capture four additional states, namely Kedah, Perak, Malacca and Pahang.

Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi claimed the people's ungratefulness towards BN's development was the reason why several states fell to the opposition in the last general election.

IDE deputy chairperson Mohammad Redzuan Othman defended the credibility of his surveys in response to criticism from PKR leader Rafizi Ramli, and pointed out that BN leaders too had disputed him when he led the Universiti Malaya Centre for Democracy and Elections (Umcedel).

Dr Mahathir Mohamad sarcastically suggested that school books should say that he was never born, after a civics book reportedly erased him as the fourth prime minister.

Malaysia achieved its target of 111 gold medals at the 29th SEA Games.

However, ticket sales for the much-anticipated men's football final between Malaysia and Thailand met hiccups.

Football fans complained that they had to queue from before dawn and were still not able to get tickets after many hours of standing in line.

Bayan Baru MP Sim Tze Tzin, Bersih chairperson Maria Chin Abdullah and activist Mandeep Singh were granted a discharge not amounting to acquittal by a magistrate’s court in Kuala Lumpur for their participation in the Kita Lawan rally.

Four Universiti Malaya (UM) students and a Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) student failed to challenge the disciplinary action against them for participating in the TangkapMO1 rally last year.

The High Court in Kuala Lumpur awarded Mohd Fieruz Jaffril, who participated in the Bersih 3 rally, RM40,000 for injuries sustained from a tear gas canister fired by police.
