The MACC is currently conducting a raid on Universiti Selangor (Unisel).

They are also raiding four other places related to Unisel, Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) and Jana Niaga Sdn Bhd, reported The Star Online today.

It was reported that six uniformed officers from MACC arrived at the Unisel campus in Shah Alam around 9.50am, where they were greeted by staff members who took them to the office buildings.

MACC's actions today is believed to be based on a report lodged against Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali and MBI over a dispute between Unisel and Jana Niaga.

Jana Niaga allegedly received monetary compensation despite failing to fulfil its contract with Unisel.

However, MBI had said that the payment to Jana Niaga was made following court arbitration.

It has also threatened to sue those who accused MBI of corruption relating to that payment.

In a statement later, the Selangor government claimed MACC's raids on Unisel and MBI were "planned" and aimed at tarnishing the image of the state government.

Yin Shao Loong, head of strategic communications of the Selangor MB's office, in a statement urged MACC to act professionally, and without being influenced by political pressure.

"The political pressure on MACC only makes the perception and the people's confidence on the graft-busters to be eroded.

"The state government will continue cooperating with MACC on any investigation and at the same time, maintain the principles of responsibility and integrity in its administration, as well as its subsidiaries'," he said.

The state government has also already explained the court settlement on the dispute between Unisel and Jana Niaga Sdn Bhd, he noted.

"This does not at all, personally involve the menteri besar, in his personal capacity."
