Division wants Najib and Zahid to go unchallenged in Umno polls

The Masjid Tanah Umno division today unanimously passed a motion for the post of party president and deputy president to not be contested at the coming party election.

The division's leader Ab Rauf Yusoh, who is also Umno executive secretary, said the division also passed a motion of support for party president and Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, and also Umno vice-president and Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also performing the duties of UMNO deputy president.

He said both the motions received the unanimous support of all the 64 branches in the division.

“We also request the Public Service Department to not compromise on the condition for a pass in Bahasa Malaysia for candidates applying for government posts,” he said when closing the division’s delegates conference in Masjid Tanah today.

The conference, which was opened by Najib and also attended by Zahid and Malacca Chief Minister Idris Haron, was attended by about 5,000 delegates.

Meanwhile, the Bukit Katil Umno delegates conference also passed a motion of support for the party's top two.

The Bukit Katil Umno delegates conference was also opened by Najib. The division is led by Former Malacca chief minister Mohd Ali Rustam.
