PKR warns of criminal offence in shifting of voters

PKR treasurer-general Tan Yee Kew warned that attempts to shift voters into the Wangsa Maju constituency even though they did not live there could constitute a criminal offence.

She pointed out that a voter's constituency is based on the address in his or her MyKad and some voters had changed their MyKad address in order to vote in certain constituency even though they do not live there.

"If someone does not or has never lived at the address in their MyKad, it means they have provided false information to the National Registration Department," she said in a statement today.

Earlier today, Tan's supporters lodged a police report against some 240 "phantom voters" which she claimed used false addresses to register as voters in Wangsa Maju.

She claimed there were at least 4,000 such voters throughout the parliamentary constituency...
