PM's alleged payment to US intel chief

Whistleblower portal Sarawak Report claims that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak paid RM7 million out of his personal bank account to the director-general of the Defence Staff Intelligence Division, the military intelligence agency of the Malaysian Armed Forces, in 2013.

Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said only an idiot would believe claims that he was behind the action of the US Department of Justice (DOJ) against 1MDB, from which DOJ claimed that at least US$4.5 billion in funds were misappropriated.

Accused of taking the 1MDB issue lightly, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang said Malaysia "easily forgets" about many other scandals that have happened in the past and such issues should be resolved based on the Quran.

DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang questioned whether Hadi would defend his deputy, Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, who was attacked by Umno for his criticism on the 1MDB issue.

Perak PAS Youth chief Mohd Akmal Kamaruddin accused Lim of pulling the strings in Pakatan Harapan after he endorsed Parti Amanah Negara vice-president Musa Husam as a candidate for menteri besar if PAS loses Kelantan to the coalition.

Kelantan gov't in cryptocurrency controversy

The Kelantan government denied it was involved in illegal deposit collection after a company it engaged for its carbon trading project was blacklisted by Bank Negara Malaysia for collecting funds in exchange for cryptocurrency.

Parti Amanah Negara vice-president Husam Musa accused the Kelantan government of washing its hands off the issue by asking victims to lodge police reports, instead of taking action against the company that it had engaged. (accused)

PKR's Kelana Jaya MP Wong Chen published the audit report on his office, complaining of unfair treatment by the Selangor government, which had frozen his allocations.

The Court of Appeal dismissed Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua's appeal against the travel ban against him, stating that a valid passport does not necessarily give a citizen the right to travel abroad.

Selangor stalls EC's redelineation

The Selangor government secured an injunction from the High Court in Kuala Lumpur to prevent the Election Commission from submitting its redelineation report without first completing the process in Selangor.

Ezam Mohd Noor announced his exit from Parti Generasi Baru (NewGen) after failing to secure its name change to Parti Bebas Rasuah from the Registrar of Societies.

PSM's Sungai Siput MP Dr D Jeyakumar filed a defamation suit against DAP's Sungkai state assemblyperson, A Sivanesan, for casting doubt on the MP's asset declaration exercise.

Responding to Parti Amanah Negara's criticism of PKR for holding back the formation of a Harapan secretariat in Selangor, PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali said the focus should first be to establish the Pakatan Harapan structure at the national level.

The planned sale of a stake in Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd to Indonesian tycoons Martua Sitorus and Peter Sondakh has reportedly been put on hold following a boardroom tussle in the company.

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak said the Special Haj Sponsorship Programme which he had introduced in 2010 had benefitted some 5,000 people.

The prices of RON95 and RON97 increased by four sen a litre, bringing the new prices to RM1.93 and RM2.19 per litre respectively, from today.
