So Jho Low trying to redeem himself by donating to charities?

YOURSAY | ‘He’s not the first or the last to buy his way into the cream of society.’

Report: Jho Low gave millions to celebs' charities

Enggang: Businessman Low Taek Jho, also known as Jho Low, has reportedly given at least US$200 million to charities linked to international celebrities, according to the New York Post.

It's akin to someone stealing money from a bank and donating some of it to beggars sitting by the roadside, while keeping the bulk of the loot for oneself.

Was he trying to redeem himself of the alleged crime of theft by doing a good deed after a bad deed? I don't understand how the mind of this alleged crook works.

Sarawakian: Enggang, it’s easy to understand. Jho Low isn't the first, nor the last, blackguard trying to buy his way into the cream of society.

He's got an ego as big as his boat “The Equanimity” - hence the need for the biggest yacht, the biggest jewels, the prettiest women, throwing the biggest parties and donating the most to charity.

JesuisAnwar: Jho Low, how do you feel about being the classic example of “barking up the wrong tree” in your obsession with grandiose fame and fortune?

As it turns out, future generations will point to you and tell their offspring, "Don't go there." That's right, you've become a symbol of all that's wrong about the human condition - the worst kind of human anyone could possibly become, just like your alleged partners Mr and Mrs Malaysian Official 1 (MO1).

Wira: I bet you the usual ministerial and dedak” (animal feed) sycophants will come out with statements saying there is no proof that the money given to charities by Jho Low came from 1MDB.

After all, 1MDB president Arul Kanda already said all 1MDB money had been accounted for, and attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali already said there is no proof to pursue this further.

SusahKes: So, the New York Post is able to trace multi-million donations back to a "generous" Malaysian donor; but to date, defenders of MO1 are unable to produce even one tiny shred of a confirmation for the existence of a publicity-shy Arabian donor. Phew!

Kit Siang shocked by Salleh's 'fake history', calls for re-education

FairMind: DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang has questioned Communications and Multimedia Minister Salleh Said Keruak’s grasp of world politics after the latter provided incorrect historical evidence to back up his claim that it was possible for two dictators to rule a country simultaneously.

Lim said Salleh’s examples were a shocking revelation of the "abysmal education standards of Malaysian ministers" and called for their "re-education".

Is it any wonder how and why our very own Malaysian history has been twisted? It is shocking that our very own minister for communications and multimedia has used the media for miscommunicating and spreading false news.

In other countries, such a person would be relegated to work as an office boy, let alone be appointed as a minister.

Annonymous: Lim, if Salleh was smart and competent, he wouldn't have been appointed as a cabinet minister.

Just look at all the shameless so-called "ministers" who never fail to show their stupidity with their constantly revolting public statements, spewing racism, defending corruption and the indefensible, supporting their masters and working against the interest of the people and country to pursue their supremacist and corrupt agenda.

Slumdog: As communications and multimedia minister, he is a major embarrassment. Salleh’s blog posting covering his warped version of history is a perfect example of his shallow knowledge of history, world affairs and general knowledge.

His predominant focus is on protecting Najib, and saying and doing anything to preserve the longevity of Umno at any cost.

Other pressing issues that affect the very fabric of Malaysian society such as endemic corruption, collapse of the rule of law, abuse of power and everything else that are vital for a vibrant and democratic society are only secondary issues not worth addressing.

Raja Chulan: Today, I was watching a telecast of the Singaporean parliamentary debate.

Comparing our own (Malaysian) parliamentarians (MPs and ministers included), I can safely say we are "kindergarten" standard when compared with Singapore. We have gone a long way down!

MOE to help medical grads take only BM paper

FairMind: Deputy Education Minister Chong Sin Woon has announced that the Education Ministry will assist medical graduates who do not have Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) Bahasa Malaysia (BM) qualifications to sit for the BM SPM examination.

It is sad to see how an important and long-term policy relating to education is being treated like a pasar malam (night market) where it is subjected to haggling and changes like a kilogramme of fish or chicken from day to day.

Is this the type of minister that Malaysia is cursed to have leading it? Do the ministers of health and education have any say in their ministerial policies, or are they ranked even lower than a bunch of Umno youths?

It is the surest sign yet that Malaysia is leaderless and rudderless, and that the tail is wagging the dog.

Why do the medical graduates need proficiency in BM when most of them will have studied in English? BM is not, and never will be, the medium of teaching in medical fields.

So, why insist that doctors must pass SPM-level BM in order for them to practise their profession? In doing so, the government is indirectly chasing the graduates away, who will leave for other countries who are happy to welcome them.

JBond: You don't need good BM to be a good doctor. If there is a shortage, you should pay them less and subject to them passing that subject while practising to motivate them to study to pass that subject later.

There is no point politicising human lives.
