Veteran writer and journalist Rehman Rashid, 62, who had a heart attack in January, died today.
His younger brother, Rafique Rashid when contacted by Bernama, said Rehman died at about 6.30 am at the Selayang Hospital.
“At the moment, the actual cause of death has yet to be ascertained but we suspect it had something to do with the heart attack that he had previously,”he said.
He said his brother's remains were expected to be taken to Kuala Kubu Baru before burial at the cemetery there.
Rehman was earlier reported to have suffered a heart attack in January while carrying out cycling activity.
The veteran writer had served with the New Straits Times as associate editor and columnist as well as with Asiaweek in Hong Kong.
Rehman had also written several books such as the "Peninsula: A Story of Malaysia" and "A Malaysian Journey" and was a recipient of the "Journalist of the Year Award" for 1985 from the Malaysian Press Institute (MPI).
