An army corporal pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court today on 79 counts of abusing the allocations of the Special Warfare Training Centre (Pulpak) in Sungai Udang Camp, in Malacca, amounting to RM50,238.10 last year.

Musa Md Dewi, 26, was charged with 74 counts of abusing Pulpak traveling allowance and annual leave claims by creating payment vouchers and putting the payment of RM46,281.10 into his own bank account.

The accused also faces three charges of abusing Pulpak traveling allowance allocations amounting to RM3,067.60 which was credited into the account owned by Anuar Bolhassan.

Musa was also charged with two counts of abusing Pulpak traveling allowance and leave claims by creating vouchers for payment amounting to RM889.40 and putting it into the account of Mohd Ramdan Mohd Sani.

He had allegedly committed all the offences at the Pulpak Budget Office between April 25 and July 1, last year.

The accused was charged under Section 403 of the Penal Code for all the offences and faces a jail term of up to five years, whipping and a fine upon conviction.

Earlier, two interpreters took about an hour to read out all the charges against Musa.

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) prosecuting officer Ong Cheng Hian proposed bail at RM2,000 for each offence, while the accused who was not represented appealed for the amount to be lowered as he has to support his wife and parents, as well as treating accident injuries.

Judge Norma Ismail then set bail at RM50,000 in one surety for all the offences and the accused was ordered to report to the MACC office every month and fixed June 19 for case mention.
