Unlike MO1, Rafizi has nothing to hide

YOURSAY | ‘We need more politicians who are able to reveal their financial transactions instantly.’

Rafizi responds to dare, reveals NGOs' financial statements

CQ Muar: That’s the way to go, Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli. This is the kind of leader that we want to lead this country - with honesty and transparency.

You have proven yourself to be a competent, capable MP and politician, and are relentlessly at the heel of those massively corrupted ministers and leaders in the government.

You even dissociate yourself from those in your party, for example, Ampang PKR Youth chief Adam Rosly Abdullah, who was involved in a court case for irregularity.

Rafizi, you're a politician who leads by example, without fear or favour. How many can emulate you with such competency, honesty, commitment and a no-nonsense approach in discharging your responsibility?

FairMind: Between a man (Adam), who allegedly claimed that his multi-million-ringgit house was financed from borrowings from Ah Longs and relatives, and another man (Rafizi), who released his NGOs’ financial statements without hesitation, it is easy to see who is more sincere and transparent.

As an opposition leader, wouldn't it be more appropriate for Adam to demand MO1 (Malaysian Official 1) to come clean on his financial affairs?

Bamboo: Rafizi, I really salute you. We need more politicians like you who has nothing to hide and are able to reveal their financial transactions instantly. This is a total opposite of MO1.

Versey: My family and all the friends I know hold high regard of Rafizi as a very competent, capable, trustworthy and credible MP of ministerial material. We wish to see Malaysia having more politicians of such high calibre to serve the rakyat.

Rafizi, we heartily wish you well in all your endeavours and undertakings and pray that the Almighty God's richest blessings be with you.

Tembikai: The problem is that we have been faced with so many fake people around us, including people we work with every day, that we just cannot take for granted that there are good people like Rafizi around.

We tend to be suspicious of them until they have proven their worth.

Allforit: As I had mentioned before, the salary of Invoke staff and its expenditure are not paid by PKR nor taxpayers.

How Rafizi and company raise money to support themselves is up to them. Rafizi is well versed in accountancy, and prudent enough to manage the money collected responsibly; for court cases especially.

If people are jealous or resentful, then don't donate. What Rafizi & Co are doing is risky, and they don't operate cost-free.

Fikiran: Go to Invoke website. Please contribute to this worthy cause.

Mkini CEO charged over AG videos

Hang Tuah PJ: "Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (CMA), which criminalises the deliberate and improper use of network facilities for communications that are deemed offensive, false or obscene, among others."

I find Zakir Naik, Jamal Mohd Yunos, Ibrahim Ali and others (1) offensive, (2) conducted false communications. Can you please apprehend them as well?

Hornbill: Offensive? To whom? Urging a public official to quit shouldn't be an offence in a real democracy. It's only a manifestation of freedom of speech.

There was probably a valid reason for the rakyat to urge the resignation of the public official. Maybe the appointment was illegal or there was evidence that the official had not carried out his/her duties according to law.

Anonymous_40f4: This is the usual Umno Baru harassment of all those who speak the truth and ask for accountability. The Umno Baru regime is getting more cruel and desperate by the day.

They seemingly use the instruments of the state to harass all their 'enemies'. So, it’s the usual 'charge, court trial, sentence, appeals, discharge’, which will go on umpteen times and for years to harass Malaysiakini CEO Premesh Chandran and editor-in-chief Steven Gan.

Anonymous 2415891461978791: It simply cannot be a criminal matter that a video is "offensive" to someone.

Ever heard of YouTube? Then again, YouTube is in the free world where people like attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali have to answer for their actions.

Shunyata: Have the courts taken into consideration how offensive the AG’s alleged blatant dismissals, denials and outrageous defensive claims have been with regard to 1MDB and SRC funds, to the Malaysian people?

Hang Babeuf: How many times in the last year or two have I read and heard people expressing the opinion that the Hon George Brandis QC is not fit to be the attorney-general of Australia and that he should resign immediately - if not sooner. Scores of times. Routine. Biasa sahaja.

I suggest that [for a “taster” start] people should simply Google: "George Brandis should resign". You will get quite an ample early harvest there.

Why is our Apandi a protected species? Why cannot he be asked to live up to the proper high standards of his office and national responsibility? Absurd.

Dr Patricia A Martinez: How conveniently vague (like our Sedition Act), "...improper use of network facilities for communications that are deemed offensive..."

Define ‘improper’ and define ‘offensive’. This smells of persecution. Because with KiniTV - which we love - the handbook excuses of "I was misquoted", "I was misrepresented", "I was misunderstood", and worst, "I never said that", no longer hold.

Anonymous S303: Isn’t this a conflict of interest for the AG? He is charging someone over a video that he as AG found to be personally offensive to him? This is in itself a disqualifier.

Mosquitobrain: One needs to stand upright and with principle, then others will not ridicule you.
