Pua questions PAC chief's silence on 1MDB-IPIC settlement

DAP lawmaker Tony Pua has questioned Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairperson Hasan Arifin’s silence on the latest developments surrounding 1MDB and the International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC).

In a statement, Pua referred to the settlement reached between 1MDB and IPIC after a year-long arbitration process that involved billions of ringgit.

He also cited the letter revealed by Finance Minister II Johari Abdul Ghani last week, confirming that Aabar Investments PJS Ltd (BVI) is a subsidiary of IPIC.

Pua said that the latest developments prompted his call for newly-appointed auditor-general Madinah Mohamad and the PAC to reopen their investigations into 1MDB.

“Instead of responding to requests by multiple parties to re-open the inquiry, the PAC chairperson Hasan Arifin has remained as quiet as a mouse,” Pua said...
