Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V today presented the instrument of appointment as the Chief Justice of Malaysia to Md Raus Sharif at Istana Negara.

Sultan Muhammad V also presented the instruments of appointment as Court of Appeal President and Chief Judge of Malaya to Zulkefli Ahmad Makinudin and Ahmad Maarop, respectively.

Md Raus, 66, who was previously Court of Appeal President, replaced Arifin Zakaria who went on retirement on March 30.

Zulkefli, 66, was Chief Judge of Malaya for six years before being appointed to the new post, while Ahmad, 64, was a Federal Court since 2011.

All appointments took effect on April 1.

Among those present at the ceremony today were Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, chief secretary to the government Ali Hamsa, attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali and Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak Richard Malanjum.
