A man is depicted slapping another man who appeared to be asking for donations in a video which has gone viral on social media sites.

The incident is said to have happened in front of a bank in Kuala Kangsar, reported Sinar Harian.

According to local reports, the man was scolding the other person for claiming to be collecting donations for new religious schools as well as the sale of wakaf (Islamic trust) land.

The man seeking donations then denied that he was lying about the purpose of the donations, claiming further that he was a representative from the religious department.

However, the other man continued scolding him, refusing to believe his claims.

He then slapped the man seeking donations and challenged him to come back with religious officials.

The video has been shared over 3,000 times on Facebook, with many netizens condemning the man for slapping the donation seeker.

"If you don't want to donate, fine... there's no need to slap him," said a commenter.

The person who originally uploaded the video had reportedly said that they wanted to make the video viral because it is not the job of regular people to mete out punishments.

"We donate for our own reward. That is our part. Where the money goes after that, that is his (those seeking donations) business with Allah," they said.
