Indonesia has ordered three Diesel Electric (KSDE) submarines - the Changbogo class from South Korea by Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) shipyard with technology transfer process.

The two submarines are fully manufactured at DSME, while the other one will be completed by the Indonesian shipyard company, PT PAL.

In May, an initial construction stage has been completed and the submarine will be sent to Indonesia by December.

The submarine procurement is a priority in the navy’s Minimum Essential Force (MEF) 2015-2019 in order to build an armament system to support the vision to be a world class navy.
