Police rescued 19 Bangladeshi men suspected to be human trafficking victims who were confined in a house in Taman Serdang Perdana, Seri Kembangan, in an operation conducted last Saturday.

Serdang district police chief ACP Megat Mohd Aminuddin Megat Alias said acting on intelligence, a team from the Petaling Jaya district station's Serious Crime Investigation Division (D9) unit raided the house at 7.30pm.

He said the men, aged between 20 and 50, were believed to have been lured with promises of employment as labourers upon arrival in the country four weeks ago.

"However, they were confined in the house and still unemployed until today.

"Investigations found that all of them had valid travel documents and did not sustain any injuries," Megat Mohd Aminuddin told a press conference at the Serdang district police headquarters today.

He said the police were in the midst of tracking down four Bangladeshi men believed to be the masterminds of the human trafficking activities.
