Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin has slammed the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) over its preoccupation with seeking out the whistleblower who leaked a pendrive containing the association’s documents to Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.

The minister said FAM should not be hunting down the individual responsible for passing on the information, but instead reveal its contents so that it can be evaluated by the nation’s football fans.

“Surely what is important is the contents, because in terms of priority I believe football fans are not interested to hear from FAM who leaked the information.

“What is more important is the contents of the pendrive,” Khairy is quoted by BH Online as saying today, after attending the Kyoto-Asean forum themed ‘Window to Asean: International and Innovative’ in Kuala Lumpur.

FAM has been criticised for wanting to find out who leaked the information in the pendrive.

The issue started on July 18 when Tunku Ismail, who also owns the JDT football club, claimed to have evidence of wrongdoing in FAM.

The pendrive containing purported evidence of the wrongdoing was passed on to Khairy, who then handed it over to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

However, the MACC said the pendrive did not contain any element of corruption.
