Alumni chief, don’t take angry students for granted

YOURSAY | ‘It looks like the juniors have more intelligence than their seniors.’

Don’t become opposition puppets, alumni caution students

GE14Now!: Mahasiswa Aspirasi Malaysia Alumni president Mohd Shahar Abdullah, so it is fine to be unthinking idiots who blindly follow the government but it is not acceptable to critically ask why the country is in the morass it is in currently? And you call yourselves students?

Any nitwit can tell you that the Tangkap Malaysian Official 1 (MO1) rally will not represent all students in the country - but it does represent those who want to know why the person (MO1) behind the biggest scandal to rock this country is still walking around spouting all sorts of hypocritical nonsense.

The country's reputation has been shredded to bits by this one person, and Shahar can actually say that the rally is not championing something that is for the good of the country?

Isn't the restoration of the country's self-esteem and international reputation something that is important?

Victor Johan: “You as students want to champion something for the good of all, why on the streets, and not help resolve social ills or help the unfortunate instead?" asked Shahar.

Let me use this analogy: These students are informing that another flood dam built by Najib Razak's government is going to break like the many others that have broken before, and those had already caused much damage to the people in the affected areas.

These students would no longer sit back or watch the unfortunate people or provide them only with subsistence assistance. These students already feel enough is enough, and want a permanent stop to these alleged cheats from further continuing their embezzlement.

I could go on, but alumni president Shahar, I hope you will not take these angry students for granted.

Anonymous_3e86: By the same reasoning, the students must not be gullible to believe whatever the BN government and its leaders say.

Student must use their brains to think rationally and logically, and be able to decide for themselves what the truth is.

Hardboiled: Okay, I'll put this in very simple terms. Why don't you or the people in power want to know who MO1 is?

Isn't that strange to you that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the authorities are not even making an attempt to find this official?

Hang Tuah PJ: It looks like the juniors have more intelligence than their seniors.

TimesAchanging: What about the US Justice Department (DOJ) document? Are they all just lies? How about this alumni chief provide us an explanation for every accusation detailed in the DOJ document?

Anonymous_1426565266: Shahar, why not look into the mirror and tell us who the real puppet is?

Focus on studies, not rallies, Shahrizat tells students

CQ Muar: Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, of all people, you ought to be the last person to preach to those student activists what is good for them and what is not.

You should refrain from advising others on morality and good behaviour. You know as well as we do what scandal your family is entangled with regarding the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC), therefore spare us the need to explain further.

Fancy having the cheek to talk about the government being responsible, when the entire nation is screaming out for the truth with regard to 1MDB.

How can it be a responsible government when multi-billions had allegedly 'disappeared' and found its way into a leader's private accounts?

Likewise, the RM250 million which was meant to raise cattle. Aw, come of it, Shahrizat, you reckon we were born yesterday? Enough is enough.

By the way, Shahrizat, your advice is an insult to these student activists. For your information and enlightenment, they could very well be the future leaders of this country someday.

Surely they will not emulate the examples and trail of corruption the present government is presently indulging in.

Mojo Jojo: Right, I'm sure any state should create an army of zombie-bookworms whose only job is to delve into the imaginary world of books, and ignore the injustices and plunder committed by the powers-that-be.

An education is ideally used to better the mind, and create a 'better' person who possesses better judgement and foresight to tackle issues of the day. Plato, Aristotle and Confucius are as much philosophers as they are thinking men seeking to understand and better the world.

However, education these days is a means to an end. In other words, it is a tool for getting a job, and issues of how a person should conduct themselves in the world is of little or no importance.

Don't believe me? Many people sitting in the cabinet have diplomas and university degrees; those working in audit firms are highly educated and have their BS or MS lying somewhere; even Jho Low has a Wharton degree.

But when it comes to 1MDB, what is their stance and what have they done?

SpecialBrew: Our students’ answer is, if we do nothing now, we will be doing the greatest misfortune to our nation and future generations.
