Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) vice-chancellor Wahid Omar has promised he would leave no stone unturned in the probe on the lecture slides containing erroneous claims on Hinduism and Sikhism.

This was after a meeting between the Malaysia National Sikhs Movement (GerakSikh) delegation and Wahid today at his office in UTM's Kuala Lumpur campus.

"We had a very frank and open discussion with Wahid which lasted about 40 minutes, and discussed on wide range of issues that the community has brought forward including several suggestions.

"Wahid has given us an assurance that an internal investigation has already begun with the setting up of a task force which he is personally overseeing and assured that no stone will be left unturned," said GerakSikh secretary-general Amarjit Singh Gill in a statement today.

Amarjit also presented a memorandum to Wahid urging the varsity ensure such an incident did not recur.

Also present was Coalition of Malaysia Sikh Organisation secretary-general Autar Singh, representing eight national Sikh organisations.

UTM was embroiled in controversy after the university's slides of its Islamic Civilisation and Asian Civilisation module went viral on social media.

The slides claimed that Islam taught Hindus manners and cleanliness, as some of them believed dirt on the body was part of a ritual to attain nirvana.

Another slide circulated online also said the founder of Sikhism borrowed elements from Islam, but had poor understanding of the religion.
