A portal aligned to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak claimed that Umno deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin may tender an apology to his boss tomorrow.
MyKMU.net cited internal sources about the "major development" between the two feuding party leaders.
"This change of attitude, according to the source, is due to Muhyiddin being influenced by Najib's speech yesterday and also the speeches delegates made today and yesterday which adopted the same tone," it said.
The portal said further indication is Muhyiddin's latest Facebook post.
This is despite a subtle jab Muhyiddin made in reference to Najib's policy speech reminding followers they must be loyal to their leaders as required by Islam.
Muhyiddin in response to Najib's speech said only leaders who are trustworthy, honest and clean deserved loyalty.
However, the portal said Najib had been magnanimous in his approach, including inviting those unhappy with him for discussion.
"All this will surely leave Muhyiddin with few choices apart from apologising to Najib or see his already damaged credibility worsen," it said.
The portal said if Najib can be magnanimous despite the wounds inflicted on him, then why not Muhyiddin.
"It all depends on Muhyiddin now, does he want peace or war?" it said.
Meanwhile, Umno vice-president Hishammuddin Hussein said it was not too late for Muhyiddin and vice-president Mohd Shafie Apdal to apologise for their mistakes.
Speaking at the sidelines of the Umno general assembly, Hishammuddin pointed out this is what is being asked by Umno delegates.
However, he said any apology must be sincere and would not absolve them with regard to investigations on their transgression.
