I’m not Muslim, religious tussle boy’s father insists
Fernz: If someone says he's not a Muslim, even though he's registered a Muslim, he's not a Muslim. How can others insist that he's a Muslim? There's no such thing in law.

There is nothing complicated about the case. Leave the boy alone and let the father decide his religion as he is under 18.
Proarte: The persecution of S Ganesan and his son is proof that the Islamic authorities operate on a basis of lies, stupidity, illogicality and coercion.
The son says he is not Muslim but he cannot legally change his status because he has not reached the age of 18.
This does not mean that the Islamic authorities can bully him into accepting that he is a Muslim and force him to subscribe to Muslim practises. This is plain abuse and is evil. How is this Islamic?
He is not an apostate as he was never a Muslim. His 'Islamic' status was imposed on him.
Now all this stupidity and evil done in the name of Islam has gone on for too long, but Muslims on both sides of the political divide are moral cowards or indifferent to the evil and injustice perpetrated in the name of Islam.
Is it any wonder that Islam is widely viewed in the non-Muslim world with revulsion?
ACR: If the father is a non-Muslim who no longer remains married (and that too to a foreign Muslim woman), he has no rights to have his son revert to his religion - he has to wait until the boy is 18.
But if the father is a Muslim convert (who remains married in a civil marriage) and unilaterally converts a child below 18 to Islam, it is okay.
Aries46: As Ganesan says he is a Hindu, how did he marry a Muslim woman? Under what rites did he marry - civil law under Hindu rites or a Muslim marriage under syariah? And why is the son named G Thiyaggurudeen, a combination of Hindu and Islamic sounding name?
Unless these anomalies are clarified and the legal religious status established, the Islamic authorities must stop trying to indoctrinate the boy against his wishes and harassing the family.
As the Negri Sembilan police chief has refused to act on the matter citing the case as complicated, the MB as well must refrain from making allegations without proper basis that adds on to the confusion.
Was the aid given under Ganesan's Hindu name? Does receiving Baitulmal or zakat help makes one a Muslim?
Secret conversions, forceful indoctrination, intimidation of minors and parents should not be the way to spread the virtues of Islam. What do these zealots stand to benefit if the boy takes his own life to escape the clutches of these blinded bigoted officials?
Wira: What is the name of that Malay-language daily which reported that Ganesan is Muslim? I suggest Ganesan sue that paper. The chance of him getting compensation from them is very good.
