Ex-CJ has done great disservice to judiciary

YOURSAY ‘It’s quite embarrassing to get such a shallow reasoning from a judge.’

Ex-CJ claims 'Allah' new tactic to convert Malays

Gerard Lourdesamy: Since former chief justice Abdul Hamid in his twilight years wants to become the spokesperson for Allah, he should point out which passage in the Al-Quran and Hadith that says Jews and Christians do not worship Allah and cannot use the word in their religious practices.

Since he seems to be more interested in his deranged conspiracy theories than any sort of theological discourse, he should shout his views louder in Perkasa, Pekida, Isma or Umno since he has confused Islam with being a Malay.

And worst, he has allowed his blind adherence to Ketuanan Melayu to cloud his judgement about Islam and Christianity. Perhaps, Pope Francis should issue a papal bull to the effect that Muslims should not use the name of Jesus or Isa as a prophet in Islam since it is heretical.

One wonders whether as a judge this man could ever discharge his oath of office to the constitution without fear or favour or whether he was nothing but a closet bigot and racist.

The East Malaysian bumiputera have been Christian for centuries, they do not need to be converted. As for the Malays, both before and after Merdeka, laws were put in place to prevent propagation of non-Islamic religions to them.

How can 10 percent of the population deceive 60 percent of Muslims? There are 2.2 billion Christians in the world of which 1.2 billion are Roman Catholics, we have better things to do then clandestinely convert Malay/Muslims.

The word ‘Allah’ predates Islam and was even used by the pagans. The Alkitab has used the word for hundreds of years and so have the East Malaysian Christians in their worship. There is no need for a papal pronouncement since the word is already in use.

Sali Tambap: Wow, this is coming from a former chief justice. Probably there is something that he knows that we don't.

Whatever it is, there are Malay-speaking Christians. There are many local natives, especially in Sabah, who speak Malay as their mother tongue and who do not even speak their own native language at home. Just check that out for veracity. They have known the word ‘Allah’ as ‘God’.

Why involve the Pope? Goodness. If you ask him, I am sure he will comply. But actually this is already declared.

Check out ‘Catechism of the Catholic Church #841' which says, "The Church's relationship with the Muslims - the plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind's judge on the last day."

Odin: Abdul Hamid, first, one can excuse such rubbish coming from the many riffraffs that we have seen such as those in Isma, Isco and Perkasa, but not from someone who is supposed to be an ex-chief justice.

How did you rise to that position? By toadying up to the Umno so-called leaders? Are you now spouting such nonsense in the hope to get a billion-ringgit government contract?

Second, you have no idea of the situation in Sabah and Sarawak and are merely cooking up stories. Witness what is happening in Sabah, for instance.

Your fellow Muslims are converting the Christian natives through coercion and deception. Let's not talk about Muslim illegal as well as legal immigrants being made instant citizens to obliterate the culture and religion of the natives there. You are simply the pits and belong to the cesspool.

Pemerhati: Abdul Hamid serves one very useful purpose with his illogical and nonsensical comments. He provides solid proof of how former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad destroyed the judiciary and in fact most of the other public institutions by practicing racism and by putting in top positions completely incompetent people so that they would be grateful to him and do whatever he wanted them to do.

The same strategy was used by former PM Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and is currently being used by PM Najib Razak. So now you have a large collection of kangaroo judges in top positions who will do whatever Najib wants them to do.

The kangaroos, according to law expert Abdul Aziz Bari, turned the law upside down to come up with ridiculous verdicts to please Najib, in the Perak constitutional crisis cases. Most of the same kangaroos will soon deliver the verdict on the Allah issue and it will be handed down to them by Najib.

Agape: Christians should actually be more concerned that countless many of their own have been converted to Islam or atheism, or just fallen away to indifference. See, the hardest thing in the world to do is to become a Christian and stay strong as one.

Christ himself said that we cannot be his disciples unless we take up our cross daily, and unless we love him more than anyone or anything else in this world.

We must also forgive our enemies and love those who persecute us. If we hate, we are not true followers; if we do not forgive, we ourselves also will not be forgiven.

Sirach: It is scandalous that such warped reasoning can spew from a former CJ.

Even if he thinks such a thing, as the former top judge, it wold surely have been wiser and more circumspect to reserve his comment. That he chose to ventilate such a venomous and divisive allegation for which he has furnished not a smidgen of evidence does a grave disservice to his brethren still sitting on the bench.

If the faith is 500 years old and very strong, then why Umno or Perkasa are so afraid or so much of fuss about the word ‘Allah’ in the bible? Your reasoning is so shallow and contradicting yourself.

It’s quite embarrassing to get such a shallow reasoning coming from a learned judge. No wonder that some of the court judgments have no rationale at all.

Bamboo: If an ex-CJ can churn out such nonsensical argument, no wonder Malaysia is in the brink of an abyss fall - the result of promoting apple polishing officers till the highest rank.

If Muslim Malaysians are so easily confused, we have to blame the low quality education they have, again the result of promoting mediocrity.

Peter Kandiah: I am shocked this is coming from a ex-learned fellow of the bench. See, he can stoop this low to further escalate the already tensed situation. He is a disgrace to the legal fraternity.

The one foreign word that divides all M’sans
