Going against big bully US is not futile
ADS

Wan Sou Hai makes a strong case for the US and its pre-emptive policy on perceived threats to its security. But his letter degenerates at the end when he expects the world to realise the futility of going against the big bully and instead should suck up to the sole superpower so as to avoid being 'targetted'.

We can all agree that the US has the rights and means to ensure its own security - but at what price? Breaking international laws and trampling on the rights of others?

This is just like asking us to dig a hole in the ground and stick our head in it. If you cannot 'see' the enemy, the enemy does not see you and therefore you will be left alone.

Let us not go too far ahead of ourselves and instead look at home. Substitute the US for the Malaysian government and the world as Malaysia, we have a similar pre-emptive bullying 'superpower' at work. Are we to also close our eyes to the injustices, acts of corruption, cheating, state terrorism etc, so that this government can get on with its 'agenda'?

I am sorry, Wan; the world does not really work that way. I would like to believe that they are still many of us around who will fight the good fight and the only superpower we have to worry about is God. And if we are to suffer for our beliefs, so be it - at least we can live with it and that to me is the only reality that matters.
