PDRM apologises over 'injured cop' picture
Kairos:
This attempt to falsely implicate the protestors of violence by the PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) is despicable and evil.
Nobody who has any modicum of integrity will descend to such low level of morality to try to frame innocent citizens of a crime they did not commit. To think that it came from our police force that had sworn to protect the people is totally unacceptable.
Whatever respect we have left for the PDRM has evaporated into nothingness. They might as well hide their faces in shame.
The posting of the photo of the man said to be a police officer beaten by Turun protesters was not a mistake. It was a deliberate attempt to cast a slur on innocent people whose only crime was to express their dissatisfaction over the rising costs of living.
This action by the police belongs to the lowest of the low and leaves an indelible black mark on the integrity of the entire force.
Metallic: What a despicable way of trying to bluff the public. The said picture uploaded was actually that of Mohd Zulhilmi Mustafar, who was injured after being assaulted on Dec 29, the Kuala Lumpur Post reported .
A peeved Mohd Zulhilmi has lodged a police report to clarify that he did not participated in the New Year's Eve protest.
Hmmmmmmmm: Just imagine if the exact same photo had been posted by one of us in our Facebook (FB). The police will not hesitate to take action against us for incitement or whatever.
I'm sure they wouldn't be saying that we are only humans and to forget about the whole thing.
Truth1: The more they lie, the more they lose whatever credibility they have left. Why are the people in PDRM so dumb?
This kind of ‘wayang kulit’ is even more amateurish than Malay TV dramas. It wins PDRM no friends, even among the 47 percent who voted for the BN regime last year.
Hey, wake up, PDRM - you have a major image and credibility problem. And it is one of your own making because you are so hell-bent on being the lapdog of a corrupted regime when you should be doing more basic, public-oriented stuff, such as fighting crime by going after real criminals and not innocent Malaysians.
Mushiro: This uploading of a false picture on the PDRM FB was done on purpose with the intention of portraying the rally as violent and hoping for sympathy for the police.
No one will believe this is a mistake and the explanation given is also very weak. It is really sad that the PDRM whose main duty is to protect the citizens is resorting to cheap tactics to gain sympathy by cooking up stories to blame the citizens.
This is not the first time and this will not be the last time. If the PDRM is serious to clear its name in this issue, it should name the officer responsible for this and take action against him.
Moontime: Do we have a new government today? I did not hear any explosions or fires caused by Molotov cocktails thrown by protestors on New Year’s Eve.
Enough is enough, PDRM. You do admit that you're only human and prone to making mistakes. Here, it seems that you had intended to create animosity and hatred using a photo which was clearly untrue, and declaring that the gathering’s true mission was to overthrow the government and accusing them of being militant to boot.
Please don't take us as fools. Let your new year resolutions to be:
1. Clean up your act
2. Earn our respect by practicing integrity and honesty
3. Severe your umbilical cord with the powers-that-be
Kawak: In its eagerness to portray the demonstrators as violence, the police were careless. Besides, with the Internet age, it is not so easy to fool the people.
Guna Otak Sikit: Indeed, PDRM is caught in a lie. How to trust the police? They are not doing police work but instead trying to demonise the protestors.
So, where are all the bombs and grenades the police said will be used to overthrow the government on New Year’s Eve?
Multi Racial: I accept your apology. But make sure it does not happen again as this could lead to potential disaster just like the case in Bersih 3.0 where police were wrongly under the impression that it was the demonstrators who had beaten up the police which was not true.
KhorSE: In regular jobs, we can expect mistakes from time to time. But some job, absolutely not.
Imagine you are being operated on and the surgeon makes a 'mistake'. Excusable? The police should get their facts right, every time. That's a must in their job. Period.
Not Confused: Yes, PDRM are prone to make many mistakes. They are, after all, the private security force for Umno-BN.
They have no concern whatsoever for the common rakyat. Eventually, this will be their undoing. Just wait and see.
